Climatology for Chuuk International Airport (PTKK)
Located in the deep tropics of the Western Pacific at 7 N and 151 E, Chuuk's climate is influenced by the persistent northwest trade winds and the monsoon trough/ITCZ.
Temperature
Chuuk is surrounded by consistently warm ocean water, whose temperature change is only on the order of one or two degrees C throughout the year. Since it is located about 3000 miles southeast of the Asian Continent, cold air masses undergo nearly complete moderation before reaching the islands.

Rainfall
Chuuk receives approximately 142" of rain per year, mostly from frequent showers and squalls, typically dropping less than 2" per day. Daily rainfalls over 5" are rare, and tend to occur when organized tropical systems are in the vicinity.
